Summer Registration is now CLOSED. Please note: no late registrations will be accepted.
You must be a current CDSBEO student to be eligible for online summer courses.
Important Information for Online Summer Semester Courses at CDSBEO:
2025 Summer Online Program (Grades 9-12)
- Courses run: Wednesday, July 2nd until Monday, July 28th
- Courses are fully online with no exams
- Students access the course via mycdsbeo.com
- Brightspace VLE platform (app on mycdsbeo.com)
The online courses are delivered asynchronously through the Brightspace Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which contains all the lessons, tools, assignments, and evaluations needed to complete the course. There are no scheduled class times for students to attend. The teacher acts as a facilitator, encouraging students to actively engage in their learning. Specific tasks and assessments are due each day, with the expectation of completing one lesson per day (20 lessons in total). Students will read, work independently (or in groups), complete assignments, and interact with their teacher and classmates primarily via email and discussion boards, with some communication by phone or Teams conference. Although students have the flexibility to schedule their study time, they must manage their time effectively and log in daily. The Summer timeframe is short, so students must dedicate the same amount of time to e-learning courses as they would to in-person courses.
- Grade 9 and 10 courses require an average of 25-30 hours per week
- Grade 11 and 12 courses require an average of 30-35 hours per week
In each online course, the teacher will schedule virtual office time, providing students with an opportunity to connect directly with their teacher each day. Please note, emails can be expected to be returned within a 24-hour period.
Students will receive their login information one day prior to the start of the course.
Students can access the Orientation Videos available on the course homepages. These videos help students navigate the course and quizzes, use email to connect with their online teacher/marker, and submit assignments.
Students can access the course materials at any time AFTER the start date and progress through the lessons at their own pace, as long as all lessons are completed by the deadline.
The CDSBEO Summer program is further supported by a Coordinator who can assist students and parents with communication between students and online teachers/markers, technical issues, course content questions, and instructions for course navigation. They are available via email at [email protected]
